In this CNC Basics Video we go over CAD. CAD Stands for Computer Aided Design. During the CAD step we take our initial design and translate it into the computer. We do this CNC Step so we can change the design, resize it, save it, transfer it to someone else, etc. Recording our CNC Design into CAD gives us flexibility. During CAD we learn we first design parts, then assemblies, then groups, then machines. We also learn there are different types of CAD Software. 2D, 2.5D and 3D. These types also come in different software packages from inexpensive to expensive. You can spend up to the sky if you want. The trick is to match the CAD Software Capabilites with your CNC Needs. You don't need high power 3D Modeling CAD if you make simple parts day in and day out. Tomorrow's lesson is CAM. Computer Aided Manufacturing. http://www.cncinformation.com

This is video 2 in working with SketchUp and CAD and progresses from our previous video in using the CAD plan as a reference to create interior and exterior walls for our model.

There are varied approaches to using SketchUp with CAD files. This video is the 1st of 3 videos that present one method we suggest as it is quick and creates a good clean SketchUp model. In this video we import a CAD plan, group and lock it, delete extra layers and create a unique layer for the floor plan and create scenes to toggle the floor plan visibility on and off.

This is the 3rd video covering our recommended method for creating models from CAD files. Here we cover a technique to create your door and window openings.

This is a demo of Cad Annotation (NoteSketch 3D). In it we show Object Annotations, View Annotations and 3D annotation. Also some model edition. For more info contact http://www.inEvo.pt

Here on the 4th day we talk about CAM. CAM stands for Computer Aided Manufacturing. During the CAM step of the CNC Process we use software to define how our CNC Machine should move. There are a number of CAM Software packages on the market. They range from the inexpensive to expensive. Much of the cost depends on the number of Axis's that the CAM Software has. With the CAM Software we define things like stock, location, tooling, feed and speeds and the post processor we will use. The post processor is very specific to our CNC Machine. It outputs g-code. We use the G-Code program in our control software next. Tomorrow's Lesson is CNC Control. http://www.cncinformation.com

From http://www.caddit.net/ How to create 3D parametric CAD CAM designs using T-FLEX software. This demo explains 3D surface lofting, draft angles, parts libraries and sketching.

Since the product is a completely new german development, based on up-to-date technology (e.g. .NET, c#) with numerous new features, it meets the total requirements of even the most demanding users, for example architects, construction engineers, draftsmen and craftsmen. With the aid of 2D-DXF / DWG import as well as 2D DXF export features even the exchange of floor plans with other project members or clients presents no problems, irrespective of the system being used. An additional feature is the option to include external 3DS, 3D-DXF and VRML 1 objects during planning. The ability to position objects using numerical reference points allows unrestricted and detailed construction. A further useful software feature of Ashampoo® 3D CAD PRO is the ability to create multi-layered walls, ceilings and floors using different materials such as insulation, plaster and concrete flooring, with properties that can be specified accurately to the millimeter. For further processing data can be exported as PDF lists showing quantities, allocated task items and a calculation of costs. Intuitive plan compilation allows for the individual design of complete construction drawings with an output size of up to DIN A0, which conform to DIN and contain cross sections, floor plans, text blocks and 2D symbols. For example, for client presentation various impressions of the planned object can be rendered with high resolution, so that even in the early stages of a project it is possible to gauge the atmosphere created by the final object. The software offers a viable alternative to the established, extremely expensive CAD products, the costs of which often run to several thousand euro for a single user. A main feature is total continuity right through to the production of construction plans. User-friendly interface, accurate results, a comprehensive range of functions including cost calculation.
