Better than you'va ever seen from any places!

http://www.ReelBadArabs.com This groundbreaking documentary dissects a slanderous aspect of cinematic history that has run virtually unchallenged form the earliest days of silent film to today's biggest Hollywood blockbusters. Featuring acclaimed author Dr. Jack Shaheen, the film explores a long line of degrading images of Arabs--from Bedouin bandits and submissive maidens to sinister sheikhs and gun-wielding "terrorists"--along the way offering devastating insights into the origin of these stereotypic images, their development at key points in US history, and why they matter so much today. Shaheen shows how the persistence of these images over time has served to naturalize prejudicial attitudes toward Arabs and Arab culture, in the process reinforcing a narrow view of individual Arabs and the effects of specific US domestic and internationl policies on their lives. By inspiring critical thinking about the social, political, and basic human consequences of leaving these Hollywood caricatures unexamined, the film challenges viewers to recognize the urgent need for counter-narratives that do justice to the diversity and humanity of Arab people and the reality and richness of Arab history and culture. Director: Sut Jhally Biographical Summary: Dr. Jack Shaheen, Professor Emeritus of Mass Communication at Southern Illinois University, is a leading scholar of Arab representations in US popular culture. Shaheen is the author of the groundbreaking study The TV Arab and, most recently, Reel Bad Arabs: How Hollywood Vilifies a People, the most comprehensive review of Arab screen images ever published. Analyzing over 900 Hollywood films made from 1896 to 2004, Dr. Shaheen exposes American cinema's systematic and pervasive degradation and dehumanization of Arabs. Articles: "Jack Shaheen continues to be a piercing laser of fairness and sanity in pointing out Hollywood's ongoing egregious smearing of Arabs." Howard Rosenberg | Los Angeles Times TV Critic

Hi, I picked up these videos from thalperi's channel. He does not allow comments he does not like. They all have to be approved by him. In other words, you can have all the free speech you want, as long as you do not say anything he finds offensive. So I left a comment on his channel, which in retrospect seemed hateful and malevolent. I assured him that he will be sorry, it seemed like a threat but all I was referring to was the fact that I will repost those videos with freedom to comment. In retrospect I regret losing my temper that way. Let him know that. In any case, free speech may live here as long as YouTube wants. Looks to me like cherry picking for the purpose of propaganda, rather than a documentary. Not to mention a politically correct way to silence criticism. The Israelis do it too. If you criticize the policies of the Israeli government you risk being labeled an anti-semite. I know at least five Hollywood movies that show Arabs in good light: English Patient Lawrence of Arabia The Mummy Ben-Hur Mohammad, Messenger of God The Wind and the Lion The 13th Warrior Anyone knows more?

Always the villain? With author Jack Shaheen, actor Ahmed Ahmed and producer Abdullah Omeish, this episode of the Riz Khan show looks at stereotypical portrayals of Arabs in Hollywood and asks why these continue.

Nearly 400 people are reported dead on the fifth day of Israeli air strikes in Gaza. While Israels Prime Minister Ehud Olmert refuses to bow to international pressure for a cease-fire, much of the Arab world has sharply criticized Egypt, the Palestinian Authority and anyone else cooperating with Israel. Worldfocus talks with Marymount Manhattan College professor and Palestinian-American Ghassan Shabaneh about the failing popularity of the U.S.s Middle Eastern allies. http://worldfocus.org/

The continuous Israeli aggression on Gaza has left hundreds dead and thousands injured. As a result, people protested from Israel and Yemen to London and New York City. It is important to note that there are many Jews that are not Zionist and in fact against Zionism. Zionism was condemned by the United Nations with a resolution that said 'Zionism is Racism' and that is true Wallahi. Unfortunately, that resolution was taken back after intense pressure from the United States. (United States government was pressured by AIPAC and Israel) ZIONISM = RACISM

Abc News (USA) Arabs circulate new UN resolution calling for immediate halt to fighting in Gaza Strip By EDITH M. LEDERER Associated Press Writer UNITED NATIONS January 6, 2009 (AP) Arab nations floated a proposed U.N. Security Council resolution Tuesday calling for an immediate end to combat in the Gaza Strip and deployment of an international force to monitor a cease-fire and protect Palestinian civilians. The draft, seen by The Associated Press, made no mention of a key demand of Israel and its main ally, the United States, for border monitors to destroy tunnels that Hamas has used to smuggle rockets and other weapons into Gaza since seizing control of the territory in June 2007. The text was being discussed privately as Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and foreign ministers from key Arab nations, the United States, Britain and France arrived for a Security Council meeting on the conflict late Tuesday. Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki said Abbas told Arab diplomats the Palestinians want the council to adopt a resolution demanding a cease-fire and Israeli withdrawal from Gaza "as soon as possible, preferably today." Malki said diplomats were doing their best to reach a consensus among the 15 council members. The proposed resolution calls for an "immediate and sustainable" cease-fire, the withdrawal of Israeli troops, the opening of all Gaza's border crossings and the restoration of a 2005 agreement under which European Union officials monitored the Rafah terminal on the Gaza-Egypt border to prevent smuggling. The text also calls for deployment of international observers to monitor a cease-fire, protect Palestinian civilians and enhance the process of restoring calm. It further urges more humanitarian aid for Gazans and an acceleration of efforts to achieve a lasting Middle East accord that would result in Israel and Palestine living peacefully as separate, independent states. Much of the U.N. diplomatic activity was taking place behind closed doors. Abbas met with French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, whose country holds the Security Council presidency this month. Kouchner also talked with Arab foreign ministers.

Norman Finkelstein, a Jewish American political scientist and author, specializing in Jewish-related issues and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in particular talks about the Lebanese militia Hezbollah and openly supports and praises their resistance: "They (Hezbollah) show courage, they show discipline, I respect that" On Israeli defeat and consequential withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000, Finkelstein says:"But the reality was -- and everyone understood it -- that the Israeli attitude was: We are going to knock out Hizbullah. They began planning for a new war right after they were forced to leave in 2000. They found their excuse, their pretext, in July 2006, but there is no question among rational people that Israel was never going to let the Hizbullah victory go by." "There is no way that the United States and Israel are going to tolerate any resistance (to their hegemony) in the Arab world." On the damage caused to Lebanon as a result of the resistance: "It's better to die on your feet than to walk crawling on your knees....how can I not respect those (Hezbollah) who say they would rather die on their feet? How can I not respect that?" Finkelstein then goes on to slam the stances taken by some sell out Arabs who continue to admire George Bush like 'Servants' despite Bush being the man behind the carpet bombing of Lebanon and says that Bush should be classified as 'persona non grata':"Who (would) roll out the red carpet less than two years after your whole country was destroyed by them (the US)?
